The 90's are back!

Alex just informed me last night that white is really in right now because its the beginning of the 90's revival. This made me beyond excited because first off I love white (its one of my two favorite colors) and second because I LOVE THE 90's! I mean I guess it could just be sentimental because we were born in the 90's and all the best t.v shows were on in the 90's but it was also just a really awesome decade. Lets first start with the fashion- 90's fashion has been slowing coming back a while, plaid shirts and the grunge look is nothing new. Look almost anywhere (and especially in San Francisco) and you can probably find someone wearing Doc Martens or similar boots. So grunge has been pretty popular lately but with this revival of the 90's hopefully some of my other favorite styles will come back. Like Clueless! who didn't want Cher's closet of clothes or at least her closet. Cute baby-doll dresses, slips, preppy shirts. Who can not be beyond excited for thigh high stockings? It was cute and it will be even cuter this time around.
Now lets look at the t.v shows. The 90's had, by far, the best T.V to date. To name a few: 90210 (the original), Ally McBeal, Dawson's Creek, Melrose Place, The Real World, Party of Five, South Park. Some of the most important things T.V taught me was from Dawson's Creek so how can I not love the decade that gave it to me?
It was a good time for entertainment and an even better time for fashion. So all I can say is that Im SO excited for the revival of the 90's. Are you?

Helloooo! Sami, you forgot Boy Meets World! and Teletubbies! haha ok maybe not Teletubbies (although I do recall Sami begging to be Po or something in like 3rd grade at recess), but Boy Meets World definitely made me the girl I am today. I'm not gonna lie. I'm not really looking forward to the return of 90's fashion the way the 80's has been dominating for the past few years (how unoriginal are we anyway?). Although hopefully it'll at least be slightly more flattering this time around. But that's about the only thing about 90's that I don't love. Music was awesome. Movies...forever in my heart. In fact, here's a list of some of my faves.

My Favorite Movies of the '90s
-American Beauty
-Titanic
-10 Things I Hate About You
-Forrest Gump
-Toy Story
-Good Will Hunting
-Shakespeare in Love
-Beauty and the Beast
-Scream
-She's All That
-Thelma and Louise
-Clueless (duh!)
-The Lion King
-Babe
-Edward Scissorhands
-Aladdin
-Can't Hardly Wait
to name a few

And let's not forget Polly Pockets! I love Polly Pockets!

The Aiden in Everybody's Closet

Just got back from the midnight showing up Sex and the City 2. Yes, yes I am one of those (and so is Sami). Anyway, if you’ve been skimming any magazines or watching E! lately, you’ve probably heard that one of Carrie’s exes, Aiden, would be making an appearance of some sort in this movie. I hate spoiling the plot, so I’ll keep it at that, but the mere fact that Aiden’s existence even mattered enough to make it into the movie stirs up something Sami and I have been thinking lately.

We all have an Aiden hidden in our closet. Most, if not all, of us have somebody from our past who has a way of creeping back into our lives…or at least our minds even though they really have no place there. Sami and I each have one. Guys whom we got rid of for extremely valid and unforgivable reasons. Guys we’d be stupid to even think about again. In fact, we’ve moved on. We’ve dated other guys and are happy with the way things are.

And yet, why do we always think we see them in a crowd like a lingering mirage that follows you wherever you go. Why do they haunt us in our dreams like ghosts of lovers past? Why do we seek their attention as a fallback when we need a boost of confidence? It’s like our subconscious chooses to forget all of the reasons we’re not still with them in the first place and hold onto the illusion that their redeeming qualities are actually redeeming when they’re not. Or it could’ve been some kind of outside factor that ruined things, but either way there’s no point to going back there.

It’s pathetic really. And masochistic to let the skeletons in your closet tell you how good you look in that purple dress. I’ve always been the kind of person who believes there’s nothing wrong with staying friends with your exes, but now I think I’m officially a believer in the John Nash philosophy (from A Beautiful Mind): The more you ignore the illusions, the more you start being able to enjoy reality.

Hey, I may be a dreamer, but my reality is getting really good, and I’m not sleeping through it.
